On June 13, 2020 CDC released new safety advice saying “the pandemic is not over” as states reopen. Florida has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. Regular testing is still critical.
LabFlorida is fully equipped for SARS-CoV-2 testing both:
Viral (swab, current active infection) and
Antibody Testing (for past infection and immune
response)
Based on currently available information and clinical expertise,
older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19.
Based on what we know now, those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are:
- People 65 years and older
- People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility
People of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, including:
- People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
- People who have serious heart conditions
- People who are immunocompromised
- People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher)
- People with diabetes
- People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis
- People with liver disease
Cost of Testing
The test is free for all Medicare and Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. We will attempt to bill major PPO health plans, but in case of denial will have to direct bill the patient. Due to uncertainty and tremendous difficulties of working with HMO plans we unable to bill these insurance plans. Direct to patient service will be billed at $99.
